What is Compassion Coral?

Compassion Coral is a blog that provides a space for reflections, learnings, insights, information and more on the topics of Mental Health, Wellbeing and Life. Written from a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, who also has experience in incorporating other therapeutic approaches including Compassion Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Behavioural Couple’s Therapy and Mindfulness. This space will share what has been gained along the way, not only from practicing as a Therapist but from the teachings and lessons that life has gifted and continues to bring. It aims to illuminate all that continues to transpire and inspire in this journey that we call life.

Visuals

These images highlight the richness, beauty and essence that life can provide. It also brings a heightened sense of gratitude and awareness of the privilege that has been afforded for having been able to and continue to experience. This is important particularly where the world can be so cruel, and for many seeing these elements can be overshadowed by factors such as violence, extreme weather conditions, lack of resources and more. For example a fresh blue sky with nothing but sky, clouds and maybe even birds, is not always possible to be seen for some, or water so pure that you can see through it or drink from it. I took these images at different points and places that I was at throughout my life. For me it represents all that we are and need as human beings. The fresh outside for oxygen, flowing water, heat from the sun, peace that is can be hoped for from the air, greenery from the tree and the plants. The hills in the back representing strength and stability that are body holds. They communicate much of what makes up our planet earth. It invites the idea of if you are able to, taking in your surroundings and giving into the present moment to truly absorb what is in front of you. It captures life and growth and the need for light to be let in for life to be maintained. This can be applied to us as humans as there can be times where we may hide in the dark and this may hinder us from flourishing and meeting our full potential.
